Periodontology

Periodontology, or periodontics, is a specialized branch of dentistry dedicated to the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of diseases affecting the supporting structures of the teeth, such as gums, alveolar bone, and periodontal ligaments. The main goal of this specialty is to preserve natural teeth and promote long-term oral health. By addressing conditions caused by dental biofilm, periodontology helps manage gum disease, periodontal infections, and other oral concerns while preventing complications like tooth loss and dental caries.
